Local Services
There are a number of mental health and wellbeing community groups and voluntary organisations that work within local communities. They deliver services that address low-level mental health and wellbeing issues with the aim to prevent the need to access more specialist mental health support.
Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) has strong links with many local community services and pays some local organisations to deliver services on their behalf.
The voluntary organisations listed below work in partnership with Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB). They offer a broad and diverse range of services to help support mental health and wellbeing across Bridgend, Rhondda Cynon Taff and Merthyr Tydfil.
Adferiad Recovery
Adferiad Recovery combines the skills and expertise of its founding charities to provide outstanding services for people in Wales with mental health problems, substance misuse problems, and those with co-occurring and complex needs.
Cruse Bereavement Support
Cruse Bereavement Support is the
leading national charity for bereaved
people offering telephone, email and
website support. Support is available across Bridgend, RCT and Merthyr Tydfil county boroughs.
CTM Mind
CTM Mind is the local Mind charity providing mental health and housing support services across Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Bridgend.
Eye-to-Eye
Based in RCT, Eye to Eye offer free
confidential counselling to young
people aged between 10 to 25 years,
in schools, in the community and
online.
New Horizons
New Horizons Mental Health provides varied services to support those with mental health issues within the communities of Cwm Taf Morgannwg. Through their Recovery College, they
provide courses to equip you with the knowledge and tools to manage your mental health well. Also, there are various social and peer support groups from crafts to creative writing and walks. Recovery is about growth and re-establishing identity. It includes reducing isolation, challenging stigma, and facing the difficulties that mental health can present.
New Pathways
New Pathways is a registered charitable company that provides a range of specialist counselling and advocacy services for women, men, children and young people who have been affected by rape or sexual abuse.
Platfform
Platfform work with people experiencing challenges with their mental health, and with communities who want to create a greater sense of connection, ownership and wellbeing in the places they live.
Platfform currently run projects across Bridgend, RCT and Merthyr Tydfil county boroughs.
Citizens Advice RCT
Citizens Advice RCT are an independent charity and part of the Citizens Advice network across England and Wales.
They provide free, confidential and impartial advice in RCT across a variety of areas.
MHMWales
MHMWales is a mental health charity based in Bridgend. MHMWales operate a number of Wellbeing Hubs and operate a number of different projects across Bridgend, RCT and Merthyr Tydfil county boroughs.
Valleys Steps
Valleys Steps delivers a range of mindfulness and stress awareness workshops and courses open to the public. Their services aim to help people to help themselves, providing a toolkit to better manage mental health and wellbeing. Their courses have been designed to help people overcome stress, anxiety and low mood with an excess of 16,000 people attending both online and community-based programmes.
